San-Ramon Homes

San Ramon Homes
San Ramon History
- Pre-1800s --
Seunen, Tatoun, Souyen, and Ohlone Indians inhabited the area
that later came to be known as San Ramon. They traded with nearby
Costanoans, who lived by valley creeks near present-day Danville.
- 1797 -- San
Jose Mission, extending from San Jose to Danville, was established.
San Ramon was included in its grazing lands.
- 1833 -- The
vast Rancho San Ramon was established by Jose Maria Amador as
a result of the Spanish land grants. The rancho extended from
Dublin to San Ramon.
- 1846 -- The
road not taken. Pioneers Joel Harlan, Minerva Fowler, and Leo
and Jane Norris came to California in 1846 but declined to join
the Donner party on their route. They missed the early Sierra
winter; the Donner Party, tragically, did not.
- 1850 -- American
settlers arrived when Leo Norris purchased 4,450 acres from Don
Amador. Norris and partner William Lynch built the first frame
house in the region, using redwoods cut in Oakland. They also
planted the first barley crop. That same year, Contra Costa County
was established.
- 1852 -- The
town grows. Joel and Minerva Fowler Harlan built their first home
on the county line, Major Samuel Russell lived on 600 acres near
Norris Canyon, and James Dougherty (Dougherty Ranch) bought 10,000
acres from Don Amador. Many of San Ramon's familiar place names
came from these first settlers -- Norris, Lynch, Harlan, McCamley,
Crow, Cox, Bollinger, Fereira, Boone, Meese, Glass, and Wiedemann.
Surviving homes include those of the Boone (Forest Homes Park),
Glass, Harlan, and Wiedemann families.
- 1864 -- A stage
line established by Brown and Co. ran through the San Ramon Valley
from San Ramon to Oakland. The area included a general store,
a jail, blacksmith shops, and a Chinese laundry along what would
become San Ramon Valley Boulevard.
- 1867 -- Students
left their home classrooms to attend the new San Ramon Grammar
School.
- 1873 -- A permanent
San Ramon post office was established. Until then, the area had
been known as Brevensville, Lynchville, and Limerick, after early
settlers Eli Breven and William Lynch, and the large Irish population.
The first village was developed adjacent to San Ramon Creek at
the intersection of Old Crow Canyon Road and San Ramon Valley
Boulevard.
- 1891 -- The
Southern Pacific Railroad's San Ramon branch to the village permanently
settled the place name. Crops and passengers were now able to
travel to and from the area.
- 1895 -- Attorney
Thomas Bishop bought 3,000 acres from Norris. There, he raised
cattle and sheep and planted hay and grain. His Bishop Ranch Shropshire
purebred sheep were famous and earned numerous awards in the early
20th century.
- 1900s -- An
array of civic and community groups developed in the San Ramon
Valley, including the Grange, the International Organization of
Odd Fellows, the San Ramon Valley Farm Bureau Women, the Rebeccas,
and the Ramona Club, which later became the San Ramon Women's
Club. The San Ramon Community Hall became the community's center
early in the century, offering cultural activities such as plays,
dances, and school programs to local ranchers and other residents.
- 1911 -- The
Bartlett pear orchard at Bishop Ranch was known as the largest
single orchard of Bartlett pears in the world, leading to San
Ramon's designation as the "pear capital of the world."
- 1960s --Interstate
680 altered community life as suburban growth exploded. The Valley
Community Services District provided urban services for these
new homes, including parks, sewer, water, fire protection, and
garbage collection.
- 1970s -- Western
Electric purchased 1,733 acres of the Bishop Ranch and proposed
a new town complete with a variety of housing, parks, stores,
and light industry. Portions of the parcel were developed as housing
tracts while 585 acres became Bishop Ranch Business Park.
- 1970 -- "San Ramon Village" appeared
as a separate census designation for the first time with a population
of 4,084. By 1975, the population had more than doubled to 12,782.
The population was 22,356 by 1980, and 44,722 in 2000.

of the nation's households own their own home.
This describes how families can get into their own San Ramon
Homes with little cash up front. It explains mortgage insurance
and how it works, and looks at the two options -- private mortgage
insurance and government mortgage insurance.
Homeownership remains one of the highest goals for many people
because of its many benefits. Along with owning your own San Ramon
Homes comes a sense of security and belonging that cannot be found

What Kind Of San Ramon Homes
Can You Buy With A Low Down Payment Loan?
There are few restrictions regarding the type of San Ramon Homes
you may buy with a low down payment loan.
In addition, low down payment loans may be used with the wide variety
of mortgages.
Besides price range, there are many other factors to consider when
purchasing a home. It's in your best interest to take care in selecting
a home that will have lasting value as well as provide shelter.
Be sure the San Ramon Homes neighborhood and house meet the needs
of your family. If you have children, you may want to know if there
are other children in the San Ramon Homes neighborhood and what
schools or playgrounds are nearby. Also consider the availability
of public transportation and how far family members will have to
commute to work or school.
Check on the condition of the San Ramon Homes plumbing, heating
and electrical systems and whether they are up to code regulations.
The best and easiest way to do this is through a certified San Ramon
Homes inspection, from a certified inspector.
If you are like most people, a home is the single largest purchase
you will ever make. It is important that you select San Ramon
Homes that will meet your family's needs and keep you happy for
years to come. And most important, you must be able to afford
to remain in that home for as long as you please.
Your Initial Meeting With a
Lender to buy San Ramon Homes
The loan approval process generally begins with an initial interview
where the prospective San Ramon Homes buyer and the lender meet
to discuss the potential loan. You will need to bring information
to verify your income and long-term debts.
Often people prefer to meet with the lender before house hunting
to determine in advance what price range they can realistically
afford and the mortgage amount for which they can qualify. This
step is called pre-qualification and can save you much time and
trouble by making certain you are looking in the correct price range.
